BONI is extremely proud to have sponsored last week’s Music & A Message event hosted by the Ministry of Health and Gender Affairs to inspire the young people of Nevis to broaden their horizons and develop wider skills through enriching creative activities.
The day involved a series of musical and theatrical performances exploring some of the biggest issues facing young people today, including taboo topics such as mental and sexual health. We were also delighted to have the opportunity to engage one-to-one with local youth at our stand where we discussed the work we do at BONI as well as their own goals and ambitions, while also giving out refreshments and merchandise.
The event marked the culmination of a month-long programme of workshops and activities held in honour of international women’s day, part of the government’s commitment to empower young women and men as partners in achieving gender equality.
To mark the occasion, we announced the launch of a new internship and mentorship programme to give young people with ambition a unique opportunity to gain vital professional experience within a business that is both globally connected and locally embedded to help set them apart in competitive jobs markets around the world. Ambitious applicants interested in careers spanning from financial services to HR will be given a real chance to work directly with inspiring career professionals who will support them to learn and grow as they explore their strengths and develop new ones.
To further broaden our impact, we toured almost every secondary and primary school on the island to share our insights, career guidance, and lessons to help inspire and motivate young people about their future careers.
Pupils at the Nevis International Secondary School also had the opportunity to have a virtual meeting with our shareholder Mr Michael J. Prest who encouraged and inspired them to take advantage of the island’s unique position as a window to the world and pursue their dreams with unlimited ambition.
We also had the honor of welcoming the Junior Minister of Health and Gender affairs Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams to our offices where she thanked us in a televised message for supporting the ministry’s mission to create a brighter future for the people of Nevis, especially our talented youth.
We look forward to strengthening and nurturing our collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Gender Affairs as we strive towards our common goal of improving the lives of the small island communities of which we are proud to be a part.
