Following the success of last year's inaugural programme, BONI is launching the 2023 Internship Programme (BONI SMIP) for ambitious young people from St. Kitts & Nevis. The internship aims to give future leaders the opportunity to gain practical experience and insight into the financial sector which can be difficult for young people to access.
Successful applicants are matched with industry professionals who will provide guidance, encouragement, and support as they explore their strengths and develop new skills that will set them apart in competitive job markets around the world.
The inaugural 2022 programme gave three interns the chance to gain experience across a range of business functions, setting them up for future careers in the sector. Joseph Akadiri, one of last year’s interns, said the BONI Internship Programme had been a very good experience and had given him a better understanding about what a career in finance entails. “The work environment is a good place, and it is a pleasant culture. I appreciate the warm welcome and I am grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to learn and understand how the bank works and experience new things. I’ve enjoyed my time at BONI very much.”
At BONI, we believe that tomorrow’s future begins today. Investing in our youth is a core tenet of that belief. Agnola Hendrickson, VP Human Resources, spoke of how seriously BONI takes its role to inspire future generations and equip them with the skills necessary to achieve a successful career. “Many young people may find it difficult to access quality career information and guidance, practical industry experiences, and relatable role models, so this is why in 2022 we launched BONI’s first internship programme.”
