In our continued dedication to community empowerment, BONI Bank proudly reaffirms its commitment to the Boys' Mentorship Programme (BMP). This year marks a significant milestone as the Department of Gender Affairs in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) launched the Gingerland Secondary School Chapter of the BMP, fostering mentorship and guidance for 12 teenaged boys.
The Launch Event
The inauguration ceremony, held on January 18, 2024, at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park, was a momentous occasion attended by esteemed guests and community members. Minister of Gender Affairs, the Honourable Jahnel Nisbett, emphasized the program's aim to provide positive role models for the boys, steering them toward success by showcasing the qualities of good, successful men.
Mr. Mario Phillip, Board Chairman for the BMP, outlined the program's five pillars, including the crucial mentor/mentee relationship, group developmental sessions, community service, and a job attachment component. The holistic approach aims not only to foster academic growth but also mental and emotional development.
Community Support
Gingerland Secondary School's Principal, Mr. Kayno David, expressed gratitude for extending the program to the school, highlighting the pivotal role male mentors play in shaping the island's young men. He emphasized that the mentors' efforts and commitment are essential in creating a positive future for the students.
BONI Bank's Continued Support:
Mr. Stephen Agbeyegbe, Chief Operations Officer for BONI, delivered remarks at the ceremony, emphasizing the bank's commitment to community development. BONI presented a generous donation of $10,000 to support the program's activities, reflecting the bank's dedication to investing in the future of Nevisian youth.
Expanding Horizons
In addition to its continued support for the Boys Mentorship Programme, BONI Bank continues its mentorship initiative. This program, launched last year, pairs candidates with seasoned professionals, providing guidance and support to develop skills that set them apart on the global stage.
Community Voices:
The event also featured remarks from Deputy Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Eric Evelyn, and other distinguished guests, highlighting the collaborative effort to shape a brighter future for the island's youth.
As we reflect on last year's blog article celebrating BONI Bank's involvement in the Boys Mentorship Programme, the renewed partnership signifies our ongoing commitment to community development. By supporting initiatives like the BMP and launching our own mentorship program, BONI continues to inspire and empower the next generation, reinforcing the belief that tomorrow's future truly begins today.
